Description

45 pages of Classic red and black Shadow Bees! Grading for Shadow Bees

About 2 years ago, some breeders launched a shrimp grading project. Their goal was to fix certain breeding criteria and descriptions. Especially Shadow (or Taiwan) Bees did not underlie a system that described their patterns in more detail yet. The main focus was on an easy-to-understand, self-explaining grade system for all Shadow Bees. This Grade Guide is far from complete, and the rapid development in this area of breeding will necessitate constant enlargement and perpetuation. In the first part of this Grade Guide we proudly present Classic Shadow Bees. They have the original patterns, from which crossbreeding and line breeding brought about all the other patterns later on.

Names

We have chosen English descriptions for the patterns in order to be able to describe these shrimps so the names can be understood internationally. Another point is the exclusion of fantasy names. They were, in the past, the reason for several names for one and the same pattern, depending on e.g. the color of the shrimp, like for example Red Ruby, King Kong and Super Crystal Red - possibly identical patterns, yet different names. Especially beginning shrimp enthusiasts have a hard time assigning names and patterns, and a more descriptive name could make things easier for them.

Individual description of the body parts

The patterns of the individual body parts pleon (abdomen), carapace (“thorax and head”), limbs and telson/uropods (tail) are described separately. The reason for this are the innumerable combinations especially in the areas pleon and carapace, which should still be describable in detail.
